The 24th edition of Anima Mundi, the world's second-largest animation film festival, begins on Tuesday (25 Oct) in Rio de Janeiro.
More than 400 short and six feature films from 45 countries—including 108 from Brazil—are participating. The festival runs until Sunday (30).
One of the highlights this year is The Red Turtle, a feature film that won a Special Jury Prize in the “Un Certain Regard” exhibit at the Cannes Film Festival. It is a co-production from France, Belgium, and Japan.
In addition to the exhibits, there will be workshops and talks with producers, including one featuring Brazil's Leo Matsuda, who has been working with the Walt Disney studio for eight years. He has been in the production crews for Big Hero 6, Wreck-It Ralph, The Simpsons Movie, and Rio.
The festival will also run in São Paulo on 2-6 November.
