The rise of unemployment in the country, driven by economic recession,

From January to May 2016, a total 851,083 companies were created, 3.5% higher than the five first months in 2015 (822,519). In May, 2016, 176,108 new firms were launched—an increase of 1.2% from the same month last year. The figures were released Thursday (Jul. 28) by Serasa Experian.

According to analysts at Serasa Experian, the expansion in the number of new enterprises in the first five months was solely driven by the rise of new, individual small entrepreneurs.

That the rise in unemployment in the country, brought about by economic recession, is the force leading jobless workers to seek alternate sources of income, the experts argue.

Services was the most sought-after sector among entrepreneurs in the first five months of 2016, with 585,829 new companies in that industry—63% of the total number of new firms founded.
