Brazil's unemployed population hits 12 million in September

The unemployment rate rose 0.5 percentage point going from 11.3% to 11.8% between the quarter ended in June (April-June) and the quarter ended in September (July-September) this year.

With the result, the unemployed population totaled 12 million people in September, up 3.8% from the quarter ended in June—an increase of 437,000 people.

This data is part of the latest Continuous National Household Sample Survey (Continuous PNAD), released today (Oct. 27) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
