Over 59,800 new jobs created in Brazil in April

The largest expansion in job offerings was seen in the service sector

A total 59,856 formal jobs were opened in April in Brazil, according to data from the General Register of Employed and Unemployed People (CAGED) released by the Ministry of Labor today (May 16). This has been the first positive result for April since 2014. In absolute numbers, a total 1,141,850 hires and 1,081,994 terminations were reported for the month.

“We are pleased to announce these positive figures. We hope they stay positive,” said Labor Minister Ronaldo Nogueira.

The service sector reported the best result in April with 24,712 new jobs, followed by agriculture (14,648), the manufacturing industry (13,689), and sales (5,327).

In March, there were 1,261,332 hires and 1,324,956 terminations (minus 63,624 jobs).
