Brazil's official inflation pace—as measured by the National Broad Consumer Price Index (IPCA) slowed down yet again in November. The 0.28% hike is 0.14 percentage points below the 0.42% reported in October.
The figures were released today (Dec. 8) by the Rio-based Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). Food, which accounted for 25% of families' consumption, was reported as the chief item pulling down the rate in November.
The rate accumulates 2.5% January-November—the lowest result for the period since 1998 (1.32%).
The 12-month equivalent stood at 2.8%, surpassing the 2.7% of the 12 month prior. The IPCA was observed at 0.18% in November last year.
