Unemployment closes out quarter ending in November at 11.2%

Jobless people in Brazil add up to 11.9 million

Brazil’s unemployment rate closed out the quarter ending in November at 11.2 percent, as per data from the government’s statistics agency IBGE, which include under unemployed any person who attempted to but failed to find work in the 30-day period prior to the survey. This group is reported to comprise 11.9 million people.

Joblessness is said to have dropped 0.7 percentage points from June to August, reaching 11.8 percent, down 0.3 percentage points from the same quarter in 2018 (11.6%).
