The Military Police carried out the administrative detention of the two military men suspected of abducting and extorting New Zealand jiujitsu fighter Jason Lee. According to the police press office, the case has been brought under scrutiny, and, in case any misconduct is proved, the officers will be subjected to disciplinary action and may be expelled.

The law enforcement agency declared “it will not accept any misconduct. Such acts sadden the nearly 50 thousand honest military police who fight crime everyday.”

The incident took place last Saturday (Jul. 23). Jason Lee, who has lived in Rio for ten months, said the officers approached him and forced him into a police car. They took him to ATMs where he was to withdraw money and pay them bribes.
