Brazil's President Michel Temer on Sunday (May 8) sent his greetings to Emmanuel Macron, the president-elect of France. Using his Twitter account, he congratulating Macron on his election and said “Brazil and France will continue to work together for democracy, human rights, development, integration, and peace.”
According to estimates in the French press, Macron obtained a 65% share of votes cast on Sunday against 35% for Marine Le Pen, with a 75% turnout, one of the lowest turnout rates in the country's election history. He is expected to lead the world's seventh-biggest economy, also one of the five voting countries in the UN Security Council, for the next five years.
The heads of government of Spain (Mariano Rajoy), the United States (Donald Trump), and the United Kingdom (Theresa May) also congratulated the president-elect of France.
