The Digital Certificate of Origin (COD in the original acronym) for trade between Brazil and Argentina has been permanently launched for use. The certificate is an online document which grants tax breaks or exemptions and ensures top-priority access to goods for countries with which Brazil has commercial ties.

The new system is expected to bring about a 35% reduction in the issuance of certificates and enable transactions to be conducted more quickly, with three day long operations being carried out in 30 minutes, the Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services reported.

The document is the digital version of the Certificate of Origin, which guarantees the source of products. The digital signature by exporters and employees speeds up commercial transactions.
