US notes Brazil’s role in solution to Venezuela crisis

State Secretary Mike Pompeo thanked the country for its efforts

US State Secretary Mike Pompeo thanked Brazilian Foreign Minister Aloysio Nunes Ferreira for his role as a leader in the coordination of efforts in finding a “democratic, peaceful, and transparent” solution to the crisis in Venezuela.

On a phone call made Friday (May 18), Pompeo noted the importance of the partnership between Brazil and the US in boosting international efforts and expanding the humanitarian assistance given to the Venezuelan people.

The announcement was made through State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert, who said that the two restated “strong bilateral relations” between Brazil and the US, as well as the role of the economic partnership between the two nations.

The US State Department further reported that the ministers discussed a joint agenda on economic growth, cooperation in security, and global issues.
