Yesterday (Jun. 28) in Brasília, President Temer met with Yang Xiaodu, head of the Communist Party of China (CPC) delegation, and a group of Chinese politicians. The meeting saw the ratification of the ruling on the expansion of bilateral relations in a number of sectors. China is currently the main commercial partner of Brazil, which has a surplus in its balance of trade of over $11.7 million.

In the conversation, Temer said that Brazil nurtures fruitful political, economic, and cultural ties with China. Xiaodu responded by saying that the two countries share ideas and goals, and expressed gratitude for the president’s participation in bilateral relations.

The Chinese leader praised the Brazilian government’s agenda of overhauls and efforts to overcome its economic difficulties. The government of China, he said, is also seeking to carry out reforms, adding that the two countries are large and face similar challenges.

Xiaodu’s delegation came to Brazil at the invitation of Temer’s Brazilian Democratic Movement (MDB) on a party mission.
