The trip to China is likely to take place in the second half of the year, as other visits have been confirmed to the US, Chile, and Israel. “We want to get closer to the world, expand our business, our borders, and this has been the guidelines given to our ministers,” the president said.

After leaving the ceremony, the Chinese embassy confirmed that President Xi Jinping will come to Brazil for the 10th summit meeting of Brics, a group formed by Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. A date for the meeting is yet to be fixed.

Wanming said that Brazil and China are entering a new stage in bilateral relations and are willing to expand and bolster cooperation efforts. “Brazil is among China’s most important partners—politically, economically, and commercially—so that’s why reforms and changes in Brazil’s economic and political institutions will bring more business opportunities with China.”
