Brazil's 2014 General Elections were among the most talked-about topics in Facebook's history. A survey released on Monday (27) by the social networking site reports 674.4 million related interactions from July 6 to October 26, the date when the second-round runoff was took place.

According to Facebook, this is the highest number of interactions related to a poll ever seen on the site, regardless of its country of origin. The previous record had been set during the elections in India this year, when 227 million conversations were held—three times as low as the volume of data shared by Brazilian users.

For the purposes of this survey, the term interaction includes pictures, texts, comments, likes, and all other content shared on Facebook. In Brazil, 89 million people are reported to be active users of the site. The company estimates that three out of five voters in the country have a Facebook page.
