During a plenary session held Tuesday (Oct 28), the president of Brazil's Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Minister Dias Toffoli, announced  the official results of the presidential ballot.

The candidate of the Workers' Party, incumbent Dilma Rousseff, received 51.64% of the valid ballot—i.e., blank and spoiled votes not included—against 48.36% for her challenger Aécio Neves, of the Brazilian Social Democracy Party (PSDB).

Following the announcement, Rousseff will be granted a diploma from the Electoral Justice. A date for the ceremony has not been fixed by TSE as yet, but must take place no later than December 19 as per electoral law. Her inauguration will be held on January 1st, 2015,  marking the beginning of Rousseff' second four-year term.
