The Congressional Committee of Inquiry (CPI) on the Petrobras scandal in the Chamber of Deputies hired US company Kroll Advisory Solutions to investigate and identify money embezzled from the company in offshore accounts, according to CPI Chairman Hugo Motta.

The committee expects the company to locate and help repatriate Petrobras funds embezzled by former employees and other people involved in the graft and kickback scam investigated by the Federal Police as part of its Operation Car Wash.

Kroll became well-known for its services provided for another congressional inquiry in 1992 on government corruption that led to the resignation of then-president, currently Senator, Fernando Collor.
