Federal Police launched stage 24 its Operation Car Wash investigation into corruption and money laundering and other wrongdoing in the context of the Petrobras kickback scandal.

In a statement, the Federal Police reported that about 200 federal police officers and 30 federal tax auditors set out this morning (Mar. 4) to serve 44 court orders, consisting of 33 search warrants and 11 bench warrants (suspects are taken to police stations for questioning then released). The warrants are being enforced in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Bahia, as well as raids in Guarujá, Diadema, Santo André, Manduri, and Atibaia.

Police say they have stormed former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's home in São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo, and Lula Institute.

The crackdowns were dubbed Aletheia after the Greek word meaning “seeking the truth”.
