According to a MDA poll commissioned by the National Confederation of Transport (CNT) released today (Oct. 19), 14.6% of Brazilian respondents have given positive ratings to President Michel Temer's government and 36.7% gave negative ratings. To 36.1% of respondents, the current administration is OK; and 12.6% had not answered or had no opinion.

In a survey released in June, when Temer was interim president yet, 11.3% of Brazilians evaluated him positively and 28% negatively. In the view of 30.2% of respondents, his administration was OK and 30.5% had no opinion.

Regarding Temer's job as president, the survey shows that 51.4% disapprove it, compared with 40.4% in the previous survey. Only 31.7% approve his performance, a lower rating than the previous one (33.8%).

Comparing Temer's and Rousseff's governments, 40.5% of respondents said the governments are the same and have not perceived any change in the country since Temer took office. For 26%, the current administration is better than the previous one, while 28% consider that the changes worsened the country's conditions.

Support in Congress

The poll shows that 58% of respondents believe that President Temer has enough support in Congress to win approval for changes proposed by his government. Only 29% of those polled believe he will not have the support, and 12.8% had not answered or had no opinion.

In the poll, 2,002 people were surveyed in 137 municipalities in 25 federative units of the five regions of the country, between October 13 to 16. The poll has a margin of error of 2.2 percentage points.
