President Michel Temer is at a hospital in Brasília (the Hospital Militar de Base de Área, HMAB, of the Army). The news was confirmed by both the hospital and the president's secretariat.

Temer felt discomfort while working at the Planalto presidential palace this morning (25). An urological obstruction was detected in a medical evaluation with the doctor on duty at the palace. The president was then hospitalized to receive treatment.

The information can be found in a note released by the president's special communications secretariat. Temer had arrived at the palace at around 9 am and had meetings slated with lawmakers, ministers, and Tocantins state governor Marcelo Miranda.

In addition to journalists, some 40 police agents from the Army stand outside the hospital.

Vote

Since early in the morning today, a plenary session has been held at the lower house to deliberate and vote on the second round of charges lodged by federal prosecutors against the president as well as cabinet members Eliseu Padilha and Moreira Franco.

The announcement on Temer's health issue at the lower house disturbed the session. Particularly agitated were members of the opposition, who requested the vote to be interrupted.

Beto Mansur, a lawmaker from São Paulo, said he talked to Temer about the vote twice around 1:30 pm, but added he does not know whether Temer had already been hospitalized by then. Fellow Deputy Darcísio Perondi said the president is to return to the presidential palace today.
