Brazil’s President-Elect Jair Bolsonaro said he may create up to 22 ministry in his administration, seven more than the 15 originally predicted. The last ministry may be that of Women, after an appeal by female lawmakers in Congress. As it stands today, the government has 29 ministries.

Onyx Lorenzoni, Bolsonaro’s future chief of staff, said the demands made by women may be addressed if the Human Rights Ministry is preserved, which currently deals with policies for racial equality, the LGBT community, and women.

“[But we want] real human rights, not the ones out there, which find no echo in Brazilian society,” Bolsonaro said, while talking about retaining the Ministry of Human Rights.

Thus far, 19 ministries have been announced for the coming administration, in addition to the Central Bank and the Office of the Attorney-General. Environment and Mines and Energy are still to have their ministers disclosed. The appointments are likely to be made known next week.

The delay in announcing the name for the Environment Ministry is due to talks and arrangements, Bolsonaro said, also mentioning the third name that could be appointed, still under consideration.
