The brothers Domingos and Chiquinho Brazão, along with former Rio Civil Police chief Rivaldo Barbosa, were arrested on Sunday morning (24) during Operation Murder Inc.
The Rio de Janeiro State Civil Police Secretariat and the National Secretariat for Penal Policies, part of the Ministry of Justice, are also involved in the operation.
Anderson Torres spoke during his custody hearing. He denied being involved with the riot and stated he heard the news of his arrest while on a vacation trip to the US like a “cannon shot through the chest.”
The measure ends 48 hours after the vote. The norm stems from old electoral rules and aims to prevent authorities from interfering in the outcome of the elections.
Also arrested as part of the same operation were another five individuals targeted by accusations. Former Senator Eduardo Lopes was not found in the Rio de Janeiro address.
