The Monetary Policy Committee (Copom), of Brazil’s Central Bank, decided to keep the country’s benchmark interest rate at 6.5% per annum. The decision, made Wednesday (May 16), comes as a surprise to market analysts, who had been expecting a reduction.
The amount of money spent by Brazilians overseas reached $4.932 billion in the first quarter this year. The figures were released Wednesday (Apr. 25) by the Central Bank of Brazil.
The amount of money spent by Brazilians on international trips totaled $2 billion in January this year. This is the highest figure since January 2015, when the value reached $2.239 billion. The data were released Monday (Feb. 26) by the Brazilian Central Bank.
