Minas Gerais court authorities on Wednesday (Mar. 13) ruled the arrest of 11 employees of mining giant Vale and two of subcontractor Tüv Süd, investigated as part of the probe into the rupture of the tailings dam in Brumadinho.
The level of copper in the Paraopeba river is up to 600 times the amount allowed in rivers used for human consumption, irrigation for food production, fishing, and leisure activities.
One month after the tragedy caused by the rupture of Vale’s Dam 1 in Brumadinho, Minas Gerais state, search efforts are still trying to locate 134 missing people. Search operations are estimate to last some three to four months after the collapse, firefighters reported.
