Graffiti’s roots can be traced back to ancient cave paintings and inscriptions, but it gained prominence through counterculture movements in the USA and France.
Dubbed Evandro Teixeira, Chile, 1973, the display showcases the remarkable records made by the eponymous news photographer for the Brazilian press. The exhibition runs at Moreira Salles Institute until July 30. Entrance is free of charge.
The panels represent a kind of the studio’s heyday. They are the best works of Chico's production because the primacy of their execution shows the school’s contribution.
"This is a rare exhibition, which brings Chagall's legacy - a great set of pieces of art and a lot of poetry," CCBB-SP general manager Claudio Mattos said.
Among the personalities honored is Emanoel Araújo, director of the Museu Afro Brasil, who is recognized for giving visibility to Afro-Brazilian artistic production.
