Mourão will participate in a lunch in honor of invited presidents and vice presidents of other countries at the Presidential Palace of Cerro Castillo, in Viña del Mar.
The bloc is formed by eight countries for the protection of the Amazon: Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guiana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela, all signatories in the Amazon Cooperation Treaty
“We have a protocol between the two defense ministers that must move forward. It is a great opportunity for both countries, because we both produce goods in this area, products of great value. So this is an are where we have to sit together and talk more, to make it move”, said the vice-president at Expo 2020, in Dubai
“Investment attraction and the generation of employment and income in the Amazon are key to the conservation of the forest,” said Mourão, pointing out that, for the coming six months, the pavilion will serve to showcase Brazil’s potential to the world.
Mourão, who chairs the Amazon Council, said the work of the Amazon Forces in tackling the issue this year started late, in May, but, he added, it was still capable of reducing an even further increase, expected at over 20 percent.
