"A single vaccine will provide lifelong protection against various types of diseases and cancers caused by HPV," stated Health Minister Nísia Trindade.
Published to mark the World Cervical Cancer Prevention Day (Mar. 26), the indicators show that the nation will not be able to reach the goal required to eliminate the disease by 2030.
The Brazilian government temporarily removed the import taxes for the vaccines against HPV, hepatitis A, and the triple TdaP (against diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis, for adults).
From January 2017, the public health system will give the HPV vaccine for 12- to 13- year old boys as part of the National Vaccination Calendar.
