In 2022, the country received 50,355 requests, submitted by people from 139 nations—67% from Venezuela, 10.9% from Cuba, and 6.8% from Angola, making up 84.7% of the total.
The support provided by UNHCR and IOM will make it possible to raise awareness among refugees and immigrants regarding the importance of participating in the census.
The pandemic is also said to have led to a sharp decline in the number of immigrants in 2020 compared to 2019, down nearly 50 percent.
Expired documents will be accepted provided that the immigrant has been a resident in the country and seeks to update their status by September 16, 2021.
