Since the beginning of January, Brazil has reported 920,427 probable cases of dengue fever, with 184 confirmed deaths and 609 fatalities under investigation.
The explosion of dengue cases in various regions of the country has prompted the states of Acre, Minas Gerais, and Goiás, as well as the Federal District, to declare a state of public health emergency.
Approximately six million doses are available, sufficient to vaccinate three million people, considering that the complete vaccination schedule consists of two doses.
The new therapy implemented by Brazil’s Health Ministry combines two antiretroviral drugs in a single pill: dolutegravir and lamivudine. Some 5.6 mi tablets have been distributed.
Some BRL 851 mi will be invested in a number of efforts every year, including the training 1,300 teams for the prevention and alleviation of patient suffering.
