The cold front arriving in the region Friday should bring rainfall of up to 100mm in 24h, plus flooding and landslides. In Rio de Janeiro state, precipitation could reach 200mm by Sunday.
A stretch of federal highway BR-470 was closed after a crater opened up Wednesday morning. A car carrying a couple fell into the crater, but both were assisted “without injuries and with stable vital signs” by the fire brigade rescue team.

Rainfall volumes may range from 60 to 80 millimeters within 24 hours, and in certain areas, could exceed 100 millimeters per day.
According to state authorities, 122,992 people have been affected by the heavy rains caused by the passage of an extratropical cyclone through South Brazil. Those forced out of their homes total 10 thousand.
