The study was conducted by 2.7 thousand volunteers, who collected data every month from Jan. to Dec. 2022. Altogether, the research is said to encompass 74 municipalities across 16 states where the biome can be found.
The biome has been assailed by a decline in water availability and the lowering of the water table, posing serious economic, social and environmental risks. The issue is denounced in a letter to be sent to the 2023 UN Water Conference.
Renewable energy is the topic at Global Symposium on Sustainable Water and Energy Solutions, which brings together authorities, representatives from society and the private sector.
The results for 2021 show us we’re still in an alert situation concerning water and our rivers, as less than half of Brazilians have access to sewage services.
A total of 26 projects covering more than 250 municipalities across ten states have been selected. Among the efforts is the planting of 100 million saplings along the basis of rivers São Francisco, Parnaíba, Tocantins, and Taquari.
