Demonstrators affiliated with the Brazilian Popular Front blocked six federal highways in the southern Paraná state. The blockages were planned as a form of protest in support of President Dilma Rousseff's government on the day the admissibility of the impeachment proceedings against her started being discussed in the lower house.

The demonstrations caused traffic jams and were staged by members of the Popular Housing Movement and the Landless Workers' Movement (MST). The Federal Highway Police of Paraná has kept both the protests and the traffic under scrutiny in the five spots where roads have been closed.

Seven road sections in the state of Pernambuco, in the Northeast, were also blocked by members of the Landless Workers' Movement in a protest against Rousseff's ouster. These protests, however, were also carried out in remembrance of the Eldorado dos Carajás massacre, perpetrated 20 years ago in Pará, north Brazil.

Highways were also closed in São Paulo and Bahia.
