Brazil Federal Police work to combat child pornography

An operation to combat child pornography launched by the Brazilian Federal Police (PF) resulted in the seizure of a computer at an undergraduate's house in Recife, capital of Pernambuco state, this Wednesday (Jun. 15). On May 12, they had already seized electronic equipment at two addresses in the state, one in the metropolitan area and the other in the coastal zone.

According to the Federal Police press office in Pernambuco, there is no evidence that the material was produced by the suspects identified until now. The complaint involves storing the material, for which suspects may receive a prison sentence of 1 to 4 years, and for sharing it, for which suspects may receive a longer sentence of 3 to 6 years in prison.

The seized material will now be examined to search for evidence of crimes as long as necessary. Police officers have not yet produced expert evidence of the equipment seized during the operation's first stage, according to the police advisory board, that argued that the technical inspection is made in detail to identify images stored and whether they have been shared. The suspect's identity will not be revealed by the Federal Police.
