Brazil's Federal Police have served search and seizure warrants this Thursday morning (Jun. 23) at the Workers' Party (PT) headquarters in downtown São Paulo. The raids are part of Operation “Brazil Cost”, a spinoff from Operation Car Wash in a joint effort with the Federal Prosecution Office (MPF) and the Federal Revenue Service (Receita).

The purpose of the operation is to investigate kickbacks in connection with $29.51 million contracts for information technology services provided to people linked with government officials in the Ministry of Planning, Budgeting, and Management between 2010 and 2015. Police have also served warrants in the states of Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, and Pernambuco, and the Federal District.
