Brazil’s Ministry of Labor and Employment has updated its registry of employers who have subjected workers to conditions analogous to slavery – known as the Dirty List.  The list now includes 159 names, 101 of which are individuals and 58 are legal entities. According to the ministry, a 20 percent surge has been recorded compared to the previous list.

From 2020 to 2025, 1,530 workers were rescued from this type of situation.

The states with the highest number of violations were Minas Gerais (33), São Paulo (19), Mato Grosso do Sul (13), and Bahia (12).

The economic activities with the highest number of employers on the list are beef cattle farming (20 cases), domestic services (15), coffee cultivation (9), and construction (8).

“Of the total, 16 percent of the new entries are related to economic activities in urban areas,” the ministry reported.

The Dirty List is published every six months and aims to “provide transparency to the results of fiscal actions to combat slave labor.”
