Brazil to donate 10 tons of rice to earthquake victims in Colombia

The shipment should come from the Food Acquisition Program

Brazil will donate up to 10 metric tons of rice to Colombia after the country was struck by an earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale on August 10. The shipment should come from the Food Acquisition Program.

The food will be sent to the neighboring country as part of an international humanitarian aid effort.

The program

The Food Procurement Program (PAA) is a public policy aimed at purchasing products from family farms to supply institutions and support food security initiatives.

The special authorization allows food purchased through the program to be used for international humanitarian aid.
