Dollar at a peak in over ten years

The rising exchange rates are a result of both domestic conditions and external turbulence

Another day of tension in the financial market has seen US dollars exceed R$2.83 and close at their highest price against the real in over ten years. The US dollar closed sold at R$ 2.835 Tuesday (Feb. 10), up 2.12% (R$0.059). This is its highest rate since November 1st, 2004.
As of this increase, the cumulative hike for the US currency stands at 5.47% for the month and 6.68% since the beginning of the year. The euro has also appreciated against the real going up 2.41% and closing at R$3.213.
The rising exchange rates are a result of both domestic conditions and external turbulence including rumors at the Federal Reserve that US interest rates could rise soon.
