Balance of trade at $4.4 billion best for March since 1989


In addition to Brazil's purchases abroad, a reduction of 30% in the daily value traded was observed, compared with March, 2015, and 3.1% compared with February, 2016.
The Brazilian balance of trade had a $4.435 surplus in March—the best performance for a March since 1989, when the current time series began. The data were made public Friday (Apr. 1) by the Ministry of Development, Industry, and Foreign Trade.
The positive figure comes as a result of the $15.994 billion in exports and $11.599 billion in imports. Foreign sales fell 5.8% from March, 2015, but surged 3.5% from February, 2016, according to the daily average criterion, which measures the amount traded on a one business day.
