Cumulative 12-month inflation 7.87% in October

Official inflation gauged by the Broad National Consumer Price Index (IPCA) was 0.26% in October this year. While higher than September's 0.08%, it is the lowest for the month of October since 2000 (0.14%). The figures were released today (Nov. 9) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

The cumulative IPCA rate for the year (January-October), 5,78%, was well below the 8.52% of the same period of 2015. The cumulative 12-rate, 7.87%, was also lower than the previous 12-month rate (8.48%), but still far above the 4.5% target set by the government.
