Foreign accounts see $1.47 bi surplus in October

From January to October, however, the deficit stands at $7.588 billion

Brazil’s foreign accounts saw a positive balance in October for the third month in a row, the Central Bank reported in Brasília today (Nov. 25). The surplus in current transactions (goods and services bought and sold and revenues exchanged between Brazil and other countries) reached $1.473, the first positive balance for the month of October since 2006 ($1.494 billion).

In October 2019, the deficit in current accounts was $8.052 billion.

From January to October, current transactions saw a deficit of $7.588 billion against negative $42.938 billion in the same period in 2019.

In the 12-month span ending in October, the deficit reached $15.3 billion (1.04 percent of the GDP), compared to $24.9 billion (1.64 percent of the GDP) until September this year.
