The Brasil Criativo Credit Program will make available R$ 408 million in credit lines for the cultural events sector, according to information disclosed by the Special Secretariat for Culture (Secult).

Crédito Brasil Criativo uses resources from the National Culture Fund (FNC) to finance cultural undertakings by private individuals or corporations. Loans are contracted by interested parties at financial institutions accredited by the Special Secretariat of Culture.

The granting of loans with FNC resources is available to creative or artistic entrepreneurs who carry out economic activities linked to the cultural sector.

Creative economy

According to the Special Secretary for Culture, Mário Frias, the creative economy moves almost 4.5% of the national economy. “We know that economy is life, the place where we create the material means for our survival”, said Frias.

According to the special secretariat, the culture and entertainment sector covers 60,000 companies across the country, provides around 2 million direct and indirect jobs and mobilizes 4 million informal workers.

The sector also represents 4.32 of the Bruno Domestic Product (GDP), which is the sum of the wealth produced in the country, and collects, per year, R$ 48 billion.
