Northeastern family farmers fly to the world’s largest food fair
Family farmers from Northeast Brazil will be at Anuga 2025, the world’s largest international food and beverage fair, held from Saturday (Oct. 4) to Tuesday (7) in Cologne, Germany.

The initiative is led by Consórcio Nordeste in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) and the Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae). The goal is to showcase products from around 30 farmers in the region – which accounts for nearly half of Brazil’s family farmers. In addition to Germany, the international mission will also visit Portugal.
Among the products to be presented are specialty coffees and chocolates, honey from the caatinga, cashew nuts, tapioca and fresh gum, beans, coconut oil, babassu flour, cashew juice, and flowers.
Anuga is a trade fair that takes place every two years. The last edition was held in 2023 and raised approximately USD 530 million in business.
This year, cooperatives will have a special space at ApexBrasil’s stand, not to mention guided tours to enable family farmers to learn, exchange experiences with producers from around the world, and establish crucial contacts for future business.
In Lisbon, Portugal, from October 7 to 10, the delegation will also participate in training and business rounds. Their appointments include a workshop on exports and a meeting to pitch products to potential Portuguese importers.
