Brazil’s federal tax and other revenue collection hit a record high in 2025, reaching BRL 2.89 billion, as per data released Thursday (Jan. 22) by the Federal Revenue Service. Compared to 2024, there was a real annual increase of 3.75 percent.

It is also the best tax collection performance for the month of December. In the last month of 2025, tax collection reached BRL 292.72 billion, representing an increase, adjusted by the IPCA – which gauges the country’s official inflation – of 7.46 percent.

The good results of the economy, in addition to the tax increase, are the main factors behind the surge in revenue.

“These are impressive numbers, a significant growth, considering the high level of the previous year [2024],” said the special secretary of the Federal Revenue Service, Robinson Barreirinhas, during the presentation of the data.

Highlights of the year

The figures were positively influenced mainly by macroeconomic variables, given the behavior of productive activity – especially services, which grew 2.72 percent from December 2024 to November 2025 and was a key driver for the year’s accumulated tax revenue.
