Brazil’s official inflation falls to 3.81%, down 0.7% in February
Brazil’s official inflation, as gauged by the country’s price index IPCA, accelerated from 0.33 percent in January to 0.7 percent in February – the highest since February 2025 (1.31%).

The data were released Thursday (Mar. 12) by the statistics bureau IBGE.
The largest variation was recorded under education (5.21%), due to annual adjustments in school and course fees. Together with the hike in transportation, the two categoties accounted for 66 percent of the month’s result.
Year to date, the rate has accumulated a 1.03 percent increase, and in the last twelve months, the index stood at 3.81 percent, below the 4.44 percent of the previous 12 months. Official inflation is within the maximum tolerance limit of the government’s target (4.5%).
Research manager Fernando Gonçalves noted that, although higher than in previous months, February’s result is the lowest for a month of February since 2020 (0.25%).
