Brazil’s balance of trade posts surplus of USD 9.8 billion in June
Buoyed by oil, soybeans, meat, and iron, Brazil’s trade balance posted a surplus of USD 9.8 billion in June, a result 66.6 percent higher than in the same month in 2025.

The performance was driven by exports, which rose by nearly 25 percent during the period, as per data released by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services.
The trade flow – the sum of exports and imports – reached USD 62.8 billion, the highest monthly figure ever recorded in the historical series.

The result was the third-best for the month, surpassed only by June 2021 (USD 10.414 billion) and June 2023 (USD 10.077 billion).
Exports grow
The increase in exports was led by the extractive industry, followed by the manufacturing sector and agribusiness.
Exports by sector:
- extractive industry – USD 9.9 billion (+58.4% from June 2025);
- manufacturing – USD 18 billion (+14.7%);
- agriculture – USD 8.1 billion (+18%).
According to Herlon Brandão, director of statistics and foreign trade studies at the ministry, it is still too early to gauge the effects of the trade agreement between Mercosur and the European Union on Brazilian exports, even though reports of increased interest from European importers are already emerging.

- manufacturing – fuels (+88.8%), poultry (+62.4%), and beef (+39.2%);
- agriculture – soybeans (+17.3%), live animals (+208.8%), raw cotton (+64.1%).
Destinations
Exports grew across most of Brazil’s major markets, including the US, despite trade tensions between the two countries.

- Asia – USD 17.4 billion (+29.9%);
- Europe – USD 6.4 billion (+43.9%);
- North America – USD 4.9 billion (+8.5%);
- South America – USD 3.9 billion (+7%).
Imports also rose
Brazilian purchases from abroad also grew in June, mainly of consumer goods and intermediate goods.
Imports by category:
- intermediate goods – USD 15.1 billion (+10.9%);
- consumer goods – USD 5.7 billion (+34%);
- capital goods – USD 3.5 billion (+5.7%);
- fuels – USD 2.2 billion (+11.6%).
First half of the year
From January through June, the trade balance recorded a surplus of USD 42.4 billion:
- exports – USD 184.8 billion (+11.5%);
- imports – USD 142.4 billion (+5.1%).
