Brazil federal tax revenue rises 8.97% in July
Boosted by economic growth and recent tax increases, the Brazilian government’s federal tax revenue reached BRL 289.3 billion in July 2026, according to data released by the Federal Revenue Service on Tuesday (Aug. 25). The result represents an 8.97 percent increase in real terms from the same month in 2025, setting a record for July.

From January through July, Brazil collected BRL 1.876 trillion. Adjusted for inflation, the amount was 6.98 percent higher than in the same period last year.
The Federal Revenue Service cited an increase in Social Security contributions as one of the main factors behind the performance.
A string of records
Federal tax revenue has set successive monthly records since last year. In 2025, the federal government increased taxes on various transactions as part of efforts to boost revenue and improve the fiscal balance.
Among the measures adopted were changes to the Tax on Financial Transactions (IOF) and the taxation of betting platforms and fintech companies.
