The Brazilian men’s blind football team secured a spot in next year’s world championship in Birmingham, UK, after winning the unprecedented IBSA Grand Prix title, in Puebla, Mexico. The title was decided against the Argentines on Sunday (Aug 8).

After the victory over Argentina, Brazil reaffirm their hegemony against their rivals: in 25 finals played ever since 1997, the seleção won 22 and lost only three. This year, besides the Grand Prix in Mexico, Brazil won the Copa Tango (also beating the Argentines) and the Americas Challenge.

The team’s next commitment will be the Copa America, starting in Cordoba, Argentina, in October.
