Rio is now set to host the next edition of the Pan American Senior and Junior Artistic Gymnastics and Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships, which will be held in 2026. The decision was made during the ordinary general assembly of the Pan American Gymnastics Union (PAGU), which came to an end last Monday (Jun. 16).

The city will also host the world championships in both disciplines in August this year.

“Part of the confederation’s planning is to maintain Brazil both as a powerhouse in competitions and as a promoter of major events. We want our sport scene to gain an ever greater foothold in the hearts of Brazilian women and men. To this end, there is nothing better than bringing over key competitions to create the conditions for our public to see the great talents of our continent and the world,” said the president of the Brazilian Gymnastics Confederation, Henrique Motta.
