Brazil’s soccer team arrives in Tokyo for friendly match against Japan
The Brazilian men’s national soccer team arrived in Tokyo this Sunday (Oct. 12), where they will face host Japan on Tuesday (14). The match is a warm-up for the 2026 World Cup and will be Brazil’s last against an Asian team. Last Friday (Oct. 10), the team defeated South Korea 5-0 in Seoul.

Later this year, Brazil will face African teams - Senegal and Tunisia. In the first half of 2026, it is expected to play European opponents, who have not yet been determined.
On Monday (13), the team will hold its final training session at Tokyo Stadium - also known as Ajinomoto Stadium - ahead of the match against the home team.
Richarlison, Brazil’s current number 9, expects another strong performance from the national team. In the first of two FIFA World Cup friendlies, the team cruised past South Korea and earned praise from the team’s Italian coach, Carlo Ancelotti.
“We have to show the same intensity we showed against Korea. We already have the coach’s trust, so we need to put into practice what we’ve trained and deliver a good performance,” said Richarlison, the 28-year-old Tottenham striker who plays in the English Premier League.
