Brazil wins silver at Canoe World Cup in Hungary

Isaquias Queiroz finished second in the C1 500-meter final at the Canoe World Cup in Szeged, Hungary. The race took place on Saturday (May 9).

The five-time Olympic medalist led for much of the race and was only overtaken at the end by China’s Bowen Ji. Isaquias Queiroz completed the course in 1:44.73. The Chinese athlete clocked 1:44.43. Another Brazilian, Gabriel Nascimento, finished in seventh place.

This is the opening event of the World Cup circuit for the sport and the first to count toward qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

The 2026 season will include two more World Cup stages and the World Championships.
