Soccer: Brazil national team coach gets contract extension
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced on Thursday (May 14) the extension of coach Carlo Ancelotti’s contract. As a result, the Italian will remain at the helm of the Brazilian national team through the 2030 World Cup.

“I arrived in Brazil a year ago. From the very first moment, I understood what soccer means to this country. For the past year, we’ve been working to bring the Brazilian national team back to the top of the world. But the CBF and I want more - more victories, more time, more work. I’m very happy to announce that we’ll continue together for another four years. We’ll go together all the way to the 2030 World Cup. I want to thank the CBF for its trust. Thank you, Brazil, for the warm welcome and all the affection,” the coach said.
Ancelotti will lead Brazil at the 2026 World Cup, to be held in Canada, Mexico, and the United States from June 11 to July 19.
Ancelotti was appointed as coach of the Brazilian national team in May 2025. In one year on the job, the Italian has led Brazil to five wins, two draws, and three losses in ten matches.
