The founder of Disque Denúncia, Zeca Borges, died today (3) at the age of 77. The service created by him, in 1995, became a reference in the collection of information against criminal activities and in the search for legal fugitives, anonymously and offering rewards, in partnership with the Rio de Janeiro government.

“Rio loses the most carioca and passionate about this city. And we lost a great leader and a friend Zeca, his legacy will never be forgotten. We will remain firm in the mission given to us”, published the program Disque Denúncia, on his Twitter profile.

The program ended up being taken to other states and countries as well. The governor of Rio, Cláudio Castro, released a note in which he praises Zeca's work in fighting crime in the state.

“Rio de Janeiro has lost one of the greatest defenders of peace and justice in our state. Zeca Borges created and coordinated the Disque Denúncia, one of the most powerful tools available to society, which helped to arrest more than 20,000 criminals. A pioneering and invaluable initiative for public safety so successful that it has been taken to other states and countries. I express my gratitude for the fundamental work and legacy that Zeca left us and my deep solidarity with family and friends”.
